Extended Information
• Inspected, align-bored and machined by the people who designed and manufactured the E-Z Bore Align Boring Machine.
• Each part is inspected and measured to ensure you are starting with a optimum stock race engine tolerance, instead of mass production parts.
• Blocks are setup and machine individually to ensure the tightest of tolerance and to obtain the maximum performance.
• Our block assemblies, provide more consistent final results by eliminating the crankshaft alignment issue found with independent machining operations associated with mass production blocks and crankcase covers.
A Couple Thoughts to Consider:
The hidden engine performance or lack of, comes from the drag (friction) that occurs due to crankshaft alignment. The more pronounced the drag the great the loss of power. This is a good explanation why (2) engines built exactly the same do not performed the same. Another example of how this drag effects the engine performance, consider the difference between building an engine with full tension rings verses a lower tension.
Block:
Align Bored with E-Z Bore System.
Sunnen and plateau finished honed to final bore diameter.
Lifter bores have been honed for cross hatch (better lubrication) and clearance.
Block and Crankcase cover bearing journal clearance – reduces press fit and drag in crankshaft ball bearings.
Piston rings race prepped and file fitted to finish bore.
Cylinder block head gasket surface machined to square up with crankshaft, create a better head gasket.
Piston pop-up at -.010 below deck surface.
Piston:
Inspected for wrist pin squareness and position in piston.
Wrist pin bores honed for cross hatch (better lubrication) and clearance.
Oversize piston
Lighter weight 14.2 grams.
Crankshaft:
Stroke – we furnish with taller stroke when available 3.128 to 3.130
Connecting Rod:
Clearanced honed with Sunnen. Final honed for cross hatch (better lubrication) and clearance.
SPECIAL NOTES:
• This package does NOT include a camshaft, crankshaft seals, lifters or a complete set of side cover bolts. This is NOT a complete engine - only a rolling lower block assembly.
• Block will arrive assembled. Wrist pin clips or rings will NOT be installed on piston.
• Block must be completely disassembled and cleaned before assembling. Final machining operation is with block assembled, there WILL be metal chips and honing abrasive residue that MUST be cleaned before assembly.
