This torque plate is manufactured to allow for use of stock head bolts and head gasket, creating the same type cylinder/block pull that would occur with stock head. Torque plates are installed after cylinder/block machining or during standard honing operations to add additional piston-to-cylinder wall clearance.

Top of torque plate has steel inserts to prevent crushing of aluminum bolts holes which occurs after multiple uses of torque plate.

Torque plates should be installed with same style head gasket that the complete engine will run. Use the original head bolts and torque the plate to the final setting used for your race engine. We recommend allowing the engine block to sit for approx 24 hours to allow for cylinder distortion (cylinder wall run out). Performance engine builders have been using torque plates for many years to create the cylinder bore distortion prior to finish honing to obtain maximum ring seal.
